Motherhood at any stage – from the moment those two “pink” lines appear, the first time you hold your child, kindergarten drop-off, and beyond – is a selfless role. It’s cold coffees, skipped meals, and more shared snacks than one can count.
This is all made worth it, of course, by chubby little hands that hold your cheeks and profess a love you didn’t even know was possible until you experienced it. Still, the sacrifice is real, and it can feel a bit daunting at times.
There is absolutely no shame in admitting that “mama needs a break.” Because I’m here to tell you, you deserve one! The truth is self-care is one of the best ways to teach our children to value their own self-worth.

Finding the time to get out and do something for yourself can seem like an impossible task. That’s why I wanted to take a little of the guesswork out. First on the list, Good Hair Co.
What I love about them: This salon boasts RAVE reviews from happy customers who all referenced the amazing staff, cool salon vibe, and excellent services they received. They present themselves as fully inclusive. No service too crazy, no person unwelcome. What’s not to love about that? As far as Kitchener hair salons go, this one has risen to the top of my must-visit list!
Coming in a close second, The Sonneck House Salon and Spa
What I love about them: Like Good Hair Co., Sonneck House has terrific reviews from long-time clients who love the elevated experience they provide. Offering both traditional hair AND spa services, this is an excellent choice for moms who want to treat themselves with a tip-to-toes day of beauty. You can’t see it, but my hand is up!
With nearly 250 high-star reviews Bamboo Boutique Hair Salon rounds out my list of recommended Kitchener hair salons.
What I love about them: Clients of Bamboo can’t get over the quality of the service they receive in this chic boutique-style salon. In addition, many clients have referenced “incredibly fair price points!” Mom life is expensive, so cost had to be a consideration in building this list. Receiving quality TLC that won’t break the bank is a major selling feature. As is their “services for the whole family” approach – they’re on my list for a future mommy-daughter date for SURE!
While putting together this blog, I found that Kitchener hair salons boast a wonderful mix of quality service, unique salon atmosphere, and personable service. I wish I could highlight even more local salons.
